Roles and responsibilities
• Conducting clinical examination of beneficiaries (general examination).
• Assessing individuals and evaluating their mental, emotional, and behavioral conditions using the Mental Health Gap Action Programme (mhGAP) Intervention Guide.
• Prescribing appropriate therapeutic medications based on the mhGAP guideline.
• Providing psychological education and appropriate psychoeducation messages to beneficiaries and their caregivers following the mhGAP guideline.
• Coordinating with social support workers and collaborating with mental health specialists to work on cases together.
• Coordinating with mhGAP physicians in other centers within the Syrian Expatriates Medical Association and monitoring medication consumption.
• Completing mental health assessment files for specialized beneficiaries under the mhGAP physicians.
• Communicating with mhGAP physicians in other centers in SEMA and providing a bi-monthly or monthly report detailing the work of mhGAP physicians in the centers to the mental health officer.
• Following documentation procedures for mental health services and other activities as outlined in the organization’s documentation process.
• Adhering to all policies and procedures outlined in the Syrian Expatriates Medical Association’s policies.
• Ensuring regular communication with the mental health officer regarding updates, achievements, and challenges through meetings, reports, and specific communication when requested or needed.
• Participating in the continuous development of work quality in SEMA.
• Encouraging and promoting a culture of positivity, professionalism, and respect in the workplace.
• Performing any other tasks assigned by the direct supervisor within the scope of the job position.
Required qualifications and experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Medicine.
• Two years of experience in the field.
• Training and supervision certificate (mhGAP Mental Health Gap Action Programme Physician).
• Familiarity with the principles of social support.
• Advanced level of proficiency in using the mhGAP Intervention Guide.
• Ability to effectively and positively work with a team.
• Ability to build positive relationships with others and interact effectively and diplomatically with everyone.
• Acceptable level of proficiency in the English language.
• Good level of proficiency in computer programs and Microsoft Office.
• Possess practical report writing skills.
• Possess flexibility, responsibility, and reliability in work.
• Ability to adapt to work conditions and effectively interact with diverse environments and cultures.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Commitment to goals, principles, and values, particularly SEMA’s.
