The Crisis in GAZA
After eight grueling months of conflict, Gaza’s healthcare system is on the brink of collapse. Doctors and patients alike face unprecedented peril; not only are individuals losing their lives, but entire medical facilities are shutting down. The recent closure of the Martyr Abu Youssef Al Najjar Hospital, a critical facility for 1.3 million internally displaced people in Rafah, underscores the dire situation. To date, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of 495 healthcare workers and injuries to over 600, with 310 still detained. Furthermore, approximately 130 ambulances have been destroyed, severely crippling emergency medical services. The Rafah crossing, the vital lifeline for supplies and aid, remains completely sealed. In response, SEMA has been actively involved, addressing this humanitarian disaster head-on.
