Donations Policies at SEMA
SEMA relies on donations provided by institutions and individuals to secure the necessary funding to carry out its vital work in providing medical care to those in need.
Secure and diverse funding enables SEMA to maintain its independence, protect its reputation, and effectively operate without being restricted or tied to specific projects.
This policy applies to all fundraising operations for all donor organizations and individuals, regardless of the types of donors or the amounts contributed, unless the sources of donations conflict with SEMA‘s objectives, mission, or value system.
This also applies to all funding amounts from current donors and all future donors, as we adopt a policy of taking appropriate care to protect SEMA‘s reputation. SEMA must not risk compromising its reputation regarding honesty, openness, integrity, and transparency. Therefore, we ensure that no donations are accepted from sources that are known to engage in activities incompatible with SEMA‘s mission.
Where do your donations go?
In the case of receiving donations from Zakat and Sadaqah funds, these funds go toward financing our medical and relief projects. A small percentage is deducted for administrative expenses, as SEMA works diligently to minimize administrative costs and allocate funds to projects. This commitment is made towards our donors.
Our donation policy is based on the principle that any donation received by SEMA should be able to withstand public scrutiny.
Our guideline in the donation policy states that SEMA can accept funding from companies and private sector donors. However, this does not imply endorsement of the policies or records of the donating company. It is advisable that the potential donor company has a general commitment to ethical standards (such as the United Nations Global Compact, labor principles, etc.).
SEMA is committed to providing reports and reviews that track the impact of donations for donors, and its teams are prepared to respond to any inquiries from donors regarding how their donations are utilized. This responsibility falls on SEMA‘s management.
If any donor, contributor, employee, or board member of SEMA is concerned about a potential threat to the organization’s independence and reputation arising from donations already received or about to be accepted, they should bring this to the attention of the relevant director or board chairperson at SEMA.
We encourage you to request membership in SEMA’s list of major donors, who receive regular reports and stories that highlight their impact on our community.
