“The Aortic Aneurysm” is a serious condition that can lead to the patient’s death at any time due to the tearing of the expanded diseased part of the vessel.
With accompanying complaints of severe abdominal pain and low blood pressure, a 75-year-old patient was referred to the Surgical Emergency Department at the Specialized Surgical Hospital in Idlib.
After performing axial computed tomography, a torn aortic aneurysm was identified, a life-threatening condition.
The patient was immediately transferred to the operating room, where a lateral chest incision was made, and the thoracic aorta was clamped to control bleeding.
Subsequently, the abdomen was opened, and the “torn aortic aneurysm” was repaired using a synthetic graft.
After the successful surgery, the patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring. The patient was discharged in good condition after five days, thanks to God.
Dr. Ali Al-Saeed, a vascular surgeon who performed the surgery, stated, “This case is considered one of the most surgically risky, with a death rate reaching 90%. It requires rapid diagnosis, intervention, and careful monitoring during and after surgery.”
Two months later, the patient returned to the hospital in excellent health.
The Sema family wishes the patient safety and well-being and expresses gratitude to the staff of the Specialized Surgical Hospital for their exceptional efforts that have saved and continue to save the lives of many.”
