Our patient (A.Q., 50 years old) endured extremely challenging days, but they are now just memories after a successful precise vascular surgery performed on them at Idlib Specialized Surgical Hospital a few days ago.

The patient arrived in a severely emaciated state, displaying clear signs of malnutrition. They expressed a genuine fear of consuming any meal or even a glass of water, as it would trigger an immediate need for emergency assistance.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that there was complete and chronic blockage in one of the major abdominal vessels, namely the superior mesenteric artery responsible for supplying the liver, stomach, pancreas, and other organs with blood and pure oxygen. Specifically, it was the celiac trunk artery.

An attempt to open the vessels through catheterization was unsuccessful. The patient was admitted and prepared for surgery, during which Dr. Wael Habib, the vascular surgeon, performed an artificial arterial bypass from the abdominal aorta to the superior mesenteric artery, following a path behind the stomach and in front of the pancreas, known scientifically as a Supraceliac to SMA bypass.

The surgery was successful, and the patient was discharged in excellent condition, with the previous symptoms resolved. Desperation was on the verge of claiming our patient if not for the care of God alone, the skill of our physicians, and the material resources provided by our supporters, which are utilized to save lives with the highest medical quality.

We wish good health to everyone.
