Roles and responsibilities

  • Stock Management in all SEMA’s health facilities and warehouses and Quality Control
  • Provide the procurement team with the technical specifications of pharmaceutical items received from supplier(s).
  • In close coordination with the medical supervisor, control the quality of the medical items received from supplier(s) (e.g., expiry dates, packing conditions, manufacturer, country of origin, etc.)
  • Monitor the quality of storage and transportation conditions of the medical items of stock as per good distribution and storage practices (GDSP) standards with particular attention to the items requiring cold chain (if any).
  • Training pharmacists and technicians in SEMA’s facilities on the SOPs of pharma and stock management
  • Alert the medical supervisors and the Field Coordinators and programs manager in case of any issues identified.
  • Conduct inventory (physical counts) of the pharmaceutical stock in agreed period.
  • In close coordination with SEMA Logistic, update the pharmacy management assessment, whenever required.
  • Contribute to the technical assessment of any tender or quotations’ requests related to purchase, storage, and transportation of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Reporting
  • Provide a monthly backup together with the monthly reports including data on deliveries’ follow-up, drugs consumption and any other relevant information.
  • Issue analytical reports on a regular basis, as needed.
  • Provide weekly updates to the team during the team meetings.
  • Provide regular reporting on her/his activities to the line manager upon request.
  • Provide a mission report and/or handover document at the end of contract.
  • Other position related tasks
  • Participate in external meetings whenever requested by line manager or technical referent.
  • Report any security related issues to the line manager.
  • Any other relevant duties requested by the line manager or technical referent.

RH:

  • Ensure the provision of reproductive health services for project beneficiaries.
  • Support, strengthen, develop, and improve the operational planning, programming, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of RH projects.
  • Review RH project indicators and address any deficiencies.
  • Act as focal point person for RH services and provide technical advice, support, and assistance on reproductive health to project team members and SEMA’s beneficiaries.
  • Liaise with the field team, medical centers and local health authorities when planning and implementing RH activities Syria.
  • Liaise with other sectors (protection, nutrition, education) to ensure an integrated approach to reproductive health.
  • Initiate, coordinate, plan, manage and implement various audience-specific training sessions on reproductive health (for audiences such as team members, field team, midwives, local health workers, community health workers, students, etc.).
  • Oversee and supervise SEMA’s Gynecological centers and hospitals.
  • Receive, collect, review and check data received from health facilities inside Syria in order to analyze, monitor, and evaluate the implementation of reproductive health services delivery.
  • Organize and conduct timely coordination meetings with team members, implementing partners, field health workers and other concerned stakeholders.
  • Prepare regular and monthly reports to be shared with the Health Programs Manager and other program officers.
  • Immediately inform the manager of any happening of significance in the reproductive health sector.
  • Represent SEMA and the programs department in relevant RH meetings and ensure effective participation in technical groups, cluster meetings and workshops with partners, donors, and other parties.
  • Plan and review the RH records and brochures.

Required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
  • 1 years’ work experience in similar capacity.
  • Experience in a similar position in an NGO or INGO is a strong asset especially in an emergency context.
  • Additional training on pharmacy and stock management is preferable
  • Additional training on RH protocols is preferable
  • Required: Arabic and English (oral and written)
  • Computer skills (including internet navigation, and various office applications i.e., Excel, Word)
