OCHA Meets with Protection Teams Supported by SEMA in Ariha

The UN OCHA team visited the protection sector teams in the city of Ariha to understand the main challenges faced by the working teams, which include general protection teams, child protection teams, and women’s protection teams.

Farah Fawzi, the team spokesperson, stated, “We came from Gaziantep as the heads of the protection sector in northwestern Syria. Our aim in this visit is to meet with the active protection teams (child protection teams, women’s protection teams, and general protection teams) to listen to them, discuss with them, and understand the main challenges they face in their work, as well as the recommendations they can provide us to evaluate the project or improve the existing services.”

Opening of the specialized gastrointestinal clinic in Idlib Surgical Hospital

As part of its ongoing efforts to expand medical services provided to our people in northern Syria, Sama opened the specialized digestive clinic at the Sema-supported Idlib Surgical Hospital.

In a new attempt to improve specialized medical services, the digestive clinic is accompanied by a dedicated department for upper and lower diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, which helps in early detection of many diseases including stomach cancer, esophageal cancer, colon cancer, and anemia, in addition to effective treatment of gastrointestinal bleeding and chronic diarrhea.

The ERCP bile duct and pancreatic imaging device has also been activated, which helps in detecting obstructive jaundice, common bile duct stones, biliary tract tumors, and pancreatic tumors.
